Iran, Turkey hold workshop on tech transfer

TEHRAN, Feb. 19 (MNA) – Iran-Turkey joint workshop on technology transfer was held in Tehran with an aim to exchange valuable experiences in the fields of science and technology.

Ahmadreza Alaei Tabatabaei, Director General of the Technology Transfer Department at Iran’s Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology, said the workshop was held on 15-16 February 2017 with an aim to assess the structural similarities of science and technology and exchange experiences between the technology transfer departments of the two countries.

“Turkey has had good progress both in terms of experience in establishing technology transfer departments at universities as well as moving toward a newer generation of universities,” Alaei said, adding that Iran can make great use of such experiences.

According to him, Iran in turn has achieved good experiences in the field of technology commercialization, particularly with regard to the protection act for knowledge-based companies and the various capacities created by this act.

“The workshop was held with participation of Turkey's vice-presidency for science and Higher Education Council, with 10-15 universities and research institutes of each country also in attendance,” he said.

The workshop included three expert panels entitled government policies to strengthen technology transfer, management of communication process between industries and universities, and review of university policies in regard to intellectual property.
